What is your proudest moment as a Sobeys employee? I was involved with the Children's Wish Foundation, and I challenged my team to raise $11,000, the average cost of a Wish. In a very short amount of time we were able to do it and grant a wish.
What advice would you give to a new Sobeys employee? Don't take anything for granted. We can get in the habit of saying "mop the floor" to a new employee, but I try to show them how, because they may not have done it before.

What is the best part of working at Sobeys? I love that I get to do a lot of different things, bringing together operations, merchandising, even HR, and tying it all together. There are new challenges every day, which makes it interesting.

What do you remember most about your first day on the job? It was so busy. There was no scanning then, so everything that you keyed in was by price and there were a lot of codes to memorize.
What is your proudest moment as a Sobeys employee? When I applied for and was given the position as a specialist on the road after working throughout the years at store level. That was my goal.
What is your favourite memory from the past 25 years? A lot of fun, friends and many celebrations. I've made a lot of friends over the years, and I met my husband at Sobeys.
What advice would you give to a new Sobeys employee? Every customer is a family member.
Who do you most admire? My daughter. She took a bus to school every day, and she worked a full-time job at the same time. It amazed me that she worked that hard to get to her goal.

What do you remember most about your first day on the job? I remember being excited to start my career as a professional, with the responsibility and opportunities that went with that. I knew I was working for the company that I thought did pharmacy best.
What is your proudest moment as a Sobeys employee? The opportunities I have had to learn and grow, and for the interesting, smart people I have met and worked with across the country. It has been fascinating and challenging to see how things change; when I started 25 years ago, pharmacists didn't prescribe or give injections.
What advice would you give to a new Sobeys employee? Give your best, enjoy your work and take any opportunity to learn and develop. Jump in, try it and learn from it.
Who do you most admire? My son; he does big scary things and doesn't let that faze him at all.

What do you remember most about your first day on the job? My first day was a night shift and I was very sleepy. They wanted me to fill out paperwork after that but I couldn't even do it. I was too tired.
What is the best part of working at Sobeys? I do quite a bit of things like receiving and lots of different parts of the job. I really like it.
What is your proudest moment as a Sobeys employee? Receiving recognition for working with some of the co-op students that come into the store. I enjoyed showing them new things and working with them.
What is your favourite memory from the past 25 years? When they first offered me a full-time position. It's something that doesn't come along very often.
What advice would you give to a new Sobeys employee? Respect and listen to your co-workers' ideas. It's all about repetition and doing things right.

What do you remember most about your first day on the job? I always went grocery shopping at Sobeys with my dad as a kid. When I actually got to work there it felt as if I was home.

What do you remember most about your first day on the job? I was nervous. It was my summer job but it ended up lasting 30 years. I finished school one day and two days later I started work.

What do you remember most about your first day on the job? The best part is the relationships I have cultivated with my co-workers and customers. Because our customers are mostly Orthodox Jews, our food is about 90 per cent kosher and we have rabbis on staff to advise on procedures and preparing food.
What is the best part of working at Sobeys? I'm proud when our student employees come back to visit after they move on.
What is your proudest moment as a Sobeys employee? I developed a better understanding of Jewish traditions with my first Hanukkah; the food is a little different, but we're all the same.

What do you remember most about your first day on the job? Way too many guys in white shirts! I moved from a position with Lawtons to Sobeys in 1999. So I had this new job and I thought Geez, I should buy some new shirts.' So I bought five or six different colour shirts. I went into my first meeting and everybody in the room was wearing a white shirt. About halfway through the vice president asked if I noticed anything different and told me about the policy about having to wear white shirts. The policy has changed now but I still don't own many white shirts!
What is the best part of working at Sobeys? I am very thankful to Sobeys for the opportunity they have given me to grow as a person and to work with so many great people across the country.
What is your proudest moment as a Sobeys employee? Tough call! It was either winning a Value Champion award or it could be winning the Presenter of the Year award.
If you could live anywhere in the world, where would it be? I'm a Newfoundlander, so it would have to be on another island.
